On the 31st of July, the President of the Portuguese Republic promulgated Decree-Law no. 48-A/2024, which provides for an exemption from IMT and Stamp Duty for young people up to the age of 35 on the purchase of their first permanent home, up to a value of € 316,722.00. The initiative came into force on the 1st of August and aims to address the current housing crisis by making it easier for young people to access housing.
