With the entry into force of Decree-Law no. 37-A/2024 of the 3rd of June, the residence permit procedures based on “expressions of interest” were revoked and immigrants wishing to come to Portugal will now be required to present an employment contract to the Portuguese consulates in their countries of origin. This new requirement will only apply to future immigrants and will not affect processes that are already underway.
