On March 1, the Resolution of the Council of Ministers No. 29-A/2022 was published in “Diário da República” the Portuguese Official Gazette, establishing specific criteria for granting temporary protection to displaced people from Ukraine, a result of the current conflict between this country and Russia. Displaced Ukrainian citizens are automatically granted a temporary residence permit, valid for 1 year and extendable for another 6 months, surpassing several bureaucracies normally associated with the hiring of foreign nationals from third countries to the European Union.
