First of all, we hope everyone is doing well, healthy and with a tuned sense of resilience for the path still ahead of us.
With reference to our Communication issued on the 12th of March, whose measures ended up anticipating the recommendations promoted by the competent authorities of social distancing, namely those in the Decree n.º 2-A/2020, from the 20th of March, which in turn executed the declaration of State of Emergency, produced by the Presidential Decree n.º 14-A/2020, from the 18th of March, and in that same spirit of seriousness, consciousness and social responsibility, we will continue to do our part, and therefore we have decided to keep, indefinitely, the suspension of all external diligences, as well as the suspension of scheduling any physical meetings.
On a personal note, even considering that FLRP is made up of a young team, and fortunately with no attorney or collaborator in the so called “risk groups”, more than our civic duty, we take it as our own obligation, considering the ethical responsibilities that impend on those who practice this profession, the relentless defense of the rights of all that belong to a risk group, as surely some of our customers, colleagues, family members, friends and all others in which the “accumulated experience” also implies a larger weakening on the immune system – not referring to the courts in the broader sense, but in something the overcomes any court: their right to health, or even, ultimately, their right to LIFE.
We intend to exercise that defense, starting by giving an example, and as such we expect that, especially those considered to belong to a risk group, find themselves well, at home, protected, risk free, for themselves and, for all of those that do it not only for duty, for their defense or example, but also out of love. A son, grandson, nephew, godson, in-law or any indirect family member. Truthfully, directly or indirectly, love remains the greatest balm for the so much needed resilience to withstand this new period of uncertain duration, and for the cure of all deceases.
A final word, directed at the representatives of most of our customers: the companies.
The word of the day is “adaptation”. To new days. To new working conditions. To this new concept of demand, which is so specific that if you have the chance to correspond with any resources you have, even if not your core business, please do so. A new way of reply, assist, manufacture. New products. Classes on-line. Digital procedures and platforms.
Older or younger, we are Portuguese. We are a people that always adapted and will continue to do so, no matter the times, no matter the circumstances. It’s in our blood, going back to the voices of “our noble forefathers”. As such, we will muster all our capacity for renewal, reinvention, come out on top, and overcome this situation as always.
To all those companies that always counted on us in battles fought, and as well as to those who in the meantime may need our helping hand, metaphorically we can say that our stronghold may have changed its location, but the captains remain true, working fully, gathering all and every new piece of legislation that is born out of this state, and ready not only to implement any instruction, but as well ready to assist in mapping strategies and procedures that show themselves more adequate to the present times.
E-mail, telephone or videoconference: we remain, as always, entirely available.
We direct again our deepest wishes of strength, courage, resilience and above all, plenty of health to you and your own. Please bear in mind your role. We are quarantined for the example of it, for love, for the safeguard of especially those in risk groups. The best way to act, is to keep yourselves, as much as possible, in the same condition, safe and sound, so that all those legal, professional, personal extraordinary measures, may be quickly reverted.
God be with you all, and as it is already the motto of these times, with plenty of faith: everything will be alright.
With our kindest regards,
On behalf of FLRP,
Nuno Ferreira Leite Rua
