Decree-Law 109-E/2021, of December 9, which enshrines the National Anti-Corruption Mechanism (MENAC) and establishes the General Regime for the Prevention of Corruption (“RGPC”) and confirms Portugal’s ambition to bring its legislation and instruments into line with the highest international standards, will come into force on June 7. This regime requires companies in Portugal with more than 50 employees to strengthen their compliance by implementing an anti-corruption compliance program, with measures for prevention, detection and response in the event of reports of acts of corruption.
