It’s the beginning of the end for the restriction measures due to Covid-19 in Portugal. The President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa announced that he will not be prolonging the State of Emergency following the 2nd of May. The return to a possible normality will happen in “small steps”. António Costa, the Prime Minister issued a warning that the Government is ready to turn back on the measures if justified.
Portugal will go into the third stage of the Coronavirus crisis – “situation control” – with a phased reopening of society. For now, the plan is that in an initial stage, starting the 4th of May, stores up to 200 square meters can reopen.
